  • If you would like to e-mail excuses for tardies and absences, please send them to dspradling@rcps.us. Be sure to include your child's full name, the date of the absence or tardy, and the reason for the absence or tardy.

  • Burns a Finalist for Teaching Award

    Congratulations to Mr. Shawn Burns, our Mechatronics & Robotics teacher. He has been announced as a finalist for the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools 2020 Prize for Teaching Excellence. This recognition seeks to honor outstanding U.S. public high school skilled trades teachers. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition and best wishes to you in the final round, Mr. Burns!

  • Engineering Senior Earns Full Scholarship to Georgia Tech

    Allison Lloyd, a senior student in the Center for Engineering, has received the Stamps Presidential Scholarship from Georgia Tech. It is a full scholarship, good for her entire four years. It covers tuition, mandatory fees, housing, meal plan, books, academic supplies, personal expenses and provides a stipend for a laptop. The scholarship also comes with $15,000 for select experiences like study abroad, unpaid internships, unpaid research, or conferences. The selection process was rigorous and competitive, but Allison was one of the few chosen from outside the state of Georgia. Congratulations! Your teachers and classmates at Burton are proud of you!

  • Center for Visual Arts Students Perform Well in Regional Competition

  • Auto Tech and Motorsports Receive Donation

    Advance Auto Parts, through the Good360 Foundation, donated 27 pallets of supplies to the BCAT Automotive Technology and Motor Sports programs. Items such as motor oil, anti-freeze, windshield washer fluid, wax and other car care items were provided, along with an opportunity for Mr. Hoback to be interviewed by a crew representing the foundation. "This is thousands of dollars worth of supplies. This helps our students and programs tremendously," said Mr. Hoback. "It enables us to do what we do." Thank you, Advance Auto Parts and Good360 Foundation for your generosity toward BCAT students and programs!

  • Art Students win at Hokie Bugfest

    Five Center for Visual Arts students won awards at the 9th annual Hokie BugFest last weekend! Below is a list of BCAT students that won awards, along with pictures of each artwork. Excellent work by these talented students! Individual Sculpture 1st Place – Andrea Gonzalez, BCAT CVAIII / Ms. Wilson. 2nd Place – Joanne Sakamoto, BCAT CVAIV / Ms. Strum. 3rd Place – Maila Hawthorne, BCAT CVAIII / Ms. Wilson. High School Drawing 2nd Place – Maggie Walsh, BCAT CVAIII / Ms. Wilson. 3rd Place – Hannah Stacy, BCAT CVAIII/ Ms. Wilson.

  • Masonry Students Earn 2nd and 4th Place in State

    Masonry students once again showed the VA state fair why we have some of the best students around and a phenomenal teacher in Mr. Baxter. Congratulations to Phillip Beuggert and Daniel Eakin, who earned 2nd place at the SkillsUSA competition today. Toby Rolon and Jeremy Adams earned 4th place. Way to go, guys!
