• Cave Spring Elementary has a history that is rich in tradition and memories. Situated on 10.86 acres of land in southwest Roanoke County, the school has a warm, inviting atmosphere and takes pride in the contributions it has made to the students and families that it serves.

    Cave Spring Elementary opened in January, 1962 with 20 classrooms, a library, a kitchen and a cafeteria. In 1971 a gymnasium was completed. A kindergarten wing was added in 1987 and in order to meet the needs of a growing student body, a new library was built in 1994. In 2010, the school was completely renovated adding a new administrative wing, kitchen and cafeteria. A state of the art geothermal heating and air conditioning system was also added during the renovation. Each classroom is equipped with Promethean ACTIVclassroom equipment. Students have access to 2 computer labs, laptops, iPads and iPods.

    The staff consists of 25 classroom teachers and 17 resource personnel in the following areas: Library/media, English Language Learners, Reading Resource, Physical Education, Special Education, Guidance, Computer technology, Music and Art.

    Cave Spring Elementary School is a performance based school with both self-contained and semi-departmentalized classes. Our students attend Hidden Valley and Cave Spring Middle Schools which feed Hidden Valley and Cave Spring High Schools.
