RCPS believes students need in-person learning for academic, social, emotional, and mental health support. We also realize some students may require a remote option this fall due to a documented, COVID-related medical reason. For the 2021-2022 school year only, RCPS will be offering a remote option for these students utilizing Virtual Virginia. Through Virtual Virginia Elementary students will participate in core instructional activities in Reading and Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and STEM. Supplemental lessons in Physical Activity and Wellness, World Languages, Dance, and Arts will be offered to students enrolled in the Elementary Program. Middle school students will be enrolled in four core classes and will have a choice of one elective in 6th and 7th grade and two electives in 8th grade. 6th and 7th grade students are required to take Health and Physical Education. For more information about Virtual Virginia please visit their website - https://www.virtualvirginia.org/. Any middle school student wishing to take credit bearing classes will take those through the RCPSonline Academy.
Families choosing this option will need to provide the school with medical documentation and provide a release for the school to work with the documenting physician. Please contact your child's school for more information on how to register.
