Summer Camps at BCAT

  • The Burton Center for Arts & Technology is hosting four summer camps for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to explore interests in different programs offered at BCAT.  Camps run from 9 a.m. to Noon each day.  Each program is limited to twenty (20) students on a first-come, first-served basis.  Transportation is not provided.  Camps are open to all students, not just students in Roanoke County.

    FCCLA Organization

    Instructor: Amanda Kinser

    Want to become a cupcake master? Start your journey here! Learn a variety of culinary skills including safety, measuring, baking, and decorating. Campers will leave with their own decorating kit and the knowledge to prepare delicious treats at home for personal enjoyment or special occasions!

    COST:  $125 per student

    Automotive Technology Program

    Instructor: Steve Hoback

    Get ready to rev up your knowledge! This camp is a four-day adventure that delves into the inner workings of internal combustion engines. Student will assemble their very own 4-cylinder model to take home and gain hands-on experience with basic auto maintenance, hand tools, and shop equipment. 

    COST:  $125 per student

    Join us for an unforgettable experience at Glam Camp! Calling all middle schoolers to indulge in four days of beauty exploration. From hairstyling to skincare, makeup artistry to nail care, Ms. Coles invites you to unleash your inner glam and discover the secrets of the beauty world.

  • VEX Robotics

    Mechatronics Program

    Instructor: Shawn Burns

    Students will work with VEX robots to learn about design, building, programming, and competing in this hands-on camp. Teams of two students will learn how to program robots for autonomous movement and then practice their learning in a variety of activities during the week.

    COST:  $125 per student

  • Woodworking Basics

    May 28 - May 31 (Tuesday-Friday) from 9am to Noon

    Building Trades Program

    Instructor: Keith Robinson

    Learn to work safely using small woodworking tools to build real bird houses, bird feeders, and scale race cars. Items built during camp will be taken home at the end of the camp week. Join Mr. Robinson and Mr. Shelton for a load of fun!
