  • At Glen Cove, we are a school that utilizes something called PBIS. Positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) is a way for schools to encourage good behavior. With PBIS, we teach kids about behavior, just as we would teach about other subjects like reading or math. The focus of PBIS is prevention, not punishment.

Every day, your child hears the morning announcements. During part of the announcements, we all recite the Glen Cove PAWS Pledge which reads:

    paws pledge

There are specific PAWS rules for the classroom, the hallways, the playground, the cafeteria, and the bus, just to name a few. Our teachers and staff give PAWS "Shout Outs" to students who are exemplifying PAWS behavior. Their names and deeds are announced during morning announcements by our principal. The children will also have their pictures put up on our PAWS bulletin board in the cafeteria, as well as posted here on our website.
