Noell selected as new WBHS principal
The Roanoke County School Board has named Evan Noell as the new principal of William Byrd High School, starting July 1. Noell, who currently is the principal of William Byrd Middle School, joined Roanoke County Public Schools in 2010 as an instructional assistant at Green Valley Elementary School. In 2011, he became a special education teacher at Northside Middle School. He moved to teach at Glenvar Middle School in 2014 and Glenvar High School in 2017. In 2019, Noell was named the assistant principal at W.E. Cundiff Elementary School before becoming the principal of WBMS in 2023.
“Evan has been a wonderful principal at WBMS and I’m pleased he will bring his experience to William Byrd High School,” said Dr. Ken Nicely, superintendent of Roanoke County Public Schools. “He has a wealth of knowledge and expertise both in the classroom and in administration and I’m confident he will continue the tradition of excellence at WBHS,” Dr. Nicely said.
