RCPS students shine at All-District Choir event

Roanoke County Public Schools is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our student-musicians who participated in the 2025 All-District Choir event, held on the campus of Virginia Tech. This prestigious event brought together top choir students from across our musical district, which includes schools from Roanoke, Lynchburg, Danville, the Radford/New River Valley area, and surrounding communities.

To be selected for the All-District Choir, students underwent a competitive audition process, which required them to perform a prepared musical art song and complete a sight-reading excerpt. Only the highest-scoring students were chosen to participate in this incredible event, showcasing their vocal talent and dedication to choral excellence.

The event kicked off on Friday, February 7, with 95 Roanoke County high school students gathering at Virginia Tech for an afternoon of rehearsals led by two distinguished guest clinicians. That evening, students were treated to an inspiring performance by the Virginia Tech choirs, further enriching their musical experience.

On Saturday, February 8, 56 Roanoke County middle school students joined their high school counterparts for a full day of intensive rehearsals. Together, they refined their performances and learned from expert instructors, preparing for their culminating performance that evening.

The weekend concluded with a breathtaking concert at Virginia Tech’s renowned Moss Arts Center, where both the middle and high school choirs had the opportunity to perform on a world-class stage. Their dedication and hard work were evident in every note, and their performances were a testament to the strength and excellence of choral music in Roanoke County Public Schools.

We are incredibly proud of these talented students for their commitment to musical excellence and for representing Roanoke County Public Schools at such a high level. Their participation in the All-District Choir is not only a significant achievement but also a reflection of their passion for music and the support of our dedicated choir directors, teachers, and families.
