A lifelong resident of Vinton, Virginia, Tim Greenway brings deep community roots and decades of private-sector experience to his role as the Vinton District member of the Roanoke County School Board. Raised in the Timberidge area and a 1982 graduate of William Byrd High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Radford University.
Greenway’s professional career spans business, construction, and real estate. He began in the private sector with Cycle Systems, Inc., where he served for 16 years as Assistant Controller and Controller, managing accounting systems, payroll, audits, and operational functions. In 1995, he founded Greenway Construction Company, specializing in single-family residential homes and developing a diverse portfolio of investment real estate. He earned his real estate license in 2002, his broker’s license in 2017, and later launched Mountain View Real Estate, LLC in Vinton—leading a team serving clients throughout the Roanoke Valley and surrounding regions.
First elected to the Roanoke County School Board in November 2015, Greenway was most recently re-elected to the board in 2025 and has served as both vice-chairman (2016, 2023) and chairman (2017). His tenure reflects a research-based and community-focused approach to public education, grounded in studying student needs, facility conditions, and long-term enrollment and workforce trends. His planning efforts have supported renovations and improvements across the Vinton area, including enhanced learning environments at W.E. Cundiff Elementary School and William Byrd High School. These initiatives highlight his commitment to strategic implementation—balancing fiscal stewardship with targeted investments that strengthen opportunities for students. Greenway consistently supports ongoing evaluation of instructional programs, school safety measures, and career and technical education expansion to ensure all students are Opportunity Ready.
Beyond the school division, Greenway is deeply engaged in civic, business, and faith-based service. He is an active member and deacon at Vinton Baptist Church, a member of the Vinton Breakfast Lions Club, and a participant in numerous committees, chamber activities, and charitable efforts over many years. His lifelong connection to Vinton fuels his belief that strong schools are fundamental to a thriving community.
Tim and his wife, Paula, have been married for nearly forty years. They have three children—Maia, Brad, and Chelsea—and several grandchildren. Outside of public service and business, he enjoys sports, hunting, golf, and time spent with his family.
Grounded in decades of community involvement and professional experience, Tim Greenway continues to approach his role on the Roanoke County School Board with a commitment to research-informed decision-making, thoughtful planning, transparent implementation, and continual evaluation—ensuring the best outcomes for students, families, and the community he has always called home.
