Letter to parents about parent-teacher conferences
August 31, 2018
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Beginning with the 2018-2019 school calendar, specific parent-teacher conference days were not built into the schedule. Parent-teacher conferences are important as they provide the opportunity for teachers to communicate the in depth performance of an individual student within the context of a particular class. In order to meet the needs of parents and teachers requesting a conference (face-to-face or phone), we would like to encourage parents to request a conference with a teacher, or group of teachers, as soon as the need arises rather than waiting on days previously designated as parent-teacher conference days. The teachers at each school will work with parents to schedule conferences at a mutually agreed upon date to promptly meet the needs of the student to help that student receive additional assistance as soon as possible.
Parents who wish to schedule a face-to-face conference or a conference call with any teacher are asked contact the teacher directly. Parents who wish to schedule a conference with several teachers at the same time would need to contact the school to help facilitate the organization of the group conference. Conferences with several teachers are more difficult to arrange, so please allow time for the school to coordinate different teacher schedules.
Building and maintaining good parent-school relationships help support each child’s education and we encourage you to join us in this partnership to help our students learn and succeed.
