Education Foundation awards more than $21,000 in grants
At an awards ceremony held November 28, 125 teachers from 25 schools across Roanoke County received 91 grants totaling $21,750 from the Roanoke County Public Schools Education Foundation. The grants help to fund various education-related projects.
The grants are funded through general Education Foundation donations and sponsors from the Foundation’s golf tournament held each fall. These sponsors include Anthem, Blue Ridge Beverage, Carilion Clinic, Delta Dental Plan of Virginia, Ethos Technologies, First Team Auto Mall, Kroger, Lanford Brothers, Lifetouch, the University of Lynchburg, M&W Construction, Rockydale Quarries and more.
“I want to congratulate all of the recipients of the teacher grants. We are delighted to be able to provide funding assistance in order to help Roanoke County teachers do the great job they do every day,” said Education Foundation president Jason Sandzimier.
Each year the Roanoke County Public Schools Education Foundation awards scholarships to students and teachers. In addition, the Foundation recognizes excellence in education each winter with the Golden Apple Award, presented to the top educator in Roanoke County.
