Dr. Ken Nicely, superintendent of Roanoke County Public Schools has been named as the recipient of the Leadership Award from the Virginia Association of Supervision, Curriculum and Development (VASCD). The award is presented annually to one Virginia educator for outstanding leadership in teaching and learning. VASCD is a membership organization of more than 1,200 members statewide, including teachers, school administrators, and higher education faculty.
“Virginia ASCD is committed to innovation and excellence in the Commonwealth's public schools. Dr. Nicely’s student-centered approach, his focus on deeper learning, and his ability to inspire others all contribute to his exemplary leadership,” said VASCD Executive Director Laurie McCullough.
“This very prestigious award honors a great educator and leader in Dr. Nicely,” said Don Butzer, Chairman of the Roanoke County School Board.
“Our board and I are especially proud of Dr. Nicely and pleased he is leading the Roanoke County school system,” Mr. Butzer added.
